Catalyst Technology
Our Alliance partner Johnson Matthey is the world’s largest supplier of ‘pgm’ catalyst gauzes. They have been providing the nitric acid industry with the most advanced catalyst technology for nearly 100 years. Johnson Matthey offers two different N2O abatement catalysts: the Amoxis ® type 10-1R and the Yara 58-Y1 catalyst. Both have been extensively tested for several years and are in industrial operation in numerous N2O abatement projects around the world.
Advantages of both the Yara and Amoxis catalysts:
- High level of N2O abatement: up to 98% can be achieved
- Expert advice on catalyst containment to optimise abatement efficiency
- No modifications in operating procedures and parameters
- No risk of downstream pollution
- Catalyst mechanical behaviour is not affected by pressure variation

Custom-engineered catalyst baskets and containment systems
In order to achieve the greatest possible reduction of N2O, the basket and/or containment system may have to be modified. The N.serve – JM Alliance collaborates with the leader in the design and manufacture of high-quality heat and corrosion resistant metal products. The containment systems will ensure the best possible N2O abatement performance.
