He structured a number of pioneering carbon transactions and was involved in the development of some of the first CDM/JI projects and financial transaction structures for the resulting emission reductions in his role as Head of Emissions Markets (Europe) for Natsource in London and Hamburg.
Albrecht gained substantial risk management experience during his three-year tenure in the insurance industry at Allianz Insurance Company in Berlin and Los Angeles and Gerling Insurance in Tokyo.
He holds an MSc in Environmental Technology & Business from Imperial College London and a BSc in Ecology & Environmental Economics from Queen Mary & Westfield College and the London School of Economics, where he first heard the words “Emissions Trading” (so you can learn something useful at university after all!).

Dr. Marten von Velsen-Zerweck
Marten is co-founder and Managing Director of N.serve. He has long-standing experience in emission markets with a focus on project development and finance. Marten contributed to the development of the first CDM/JI forestry and biomass energy projects as a consultant to the World Bank before the ratification of the Kyoto Protocol.
Marten started his career as a consultant for GFA Terra Systems, Germany’s leading consultancy firm in development cooperation. He provided advisory services in project implementation and management to international and national public donors in Asia and Eastern Europe with a focus on natural resource management projects. Marten was responsible for business development in the emission and environmental markets.
Marten holds a Diploma in Forestry Science and a doctorate degree in Agriculture (Forest loss in Mongolia), both from the Georg-August University of Göttingen. Marten’s passion for environmental service markets as a solution to environmental problems such as deforestation and climate change is based on experiences collected during extensive field studies, especially in Mongolia (1994 to 2000).
Marten is married and has three children.
